Loup-Garou is an app by Hazenfield. This page says what the app keeps, what leaves your phone, and why. Questions go to contact@hazenfield.com.

In short

No account, no ads, no analytics, no trackers. The only personal detail you give is a first name, and it can be a nickname.

What stays on your phone

Your first name, the pronoun you picked, your settings and a list of your recent games are saved on your phone only. Uninstalling the app erases them.

What leaves your phone during a game

So that the phones around the table can play together, your first name, your pronoun and your moves are sent, encrypted, to our game server. It passes them to the other players in the same game and to nobody else.

The server keeps a game in memory while it lasts, and for at most six hours after the last move. It does not write it to disk, with one exception: if the server hits an error, it saves a copy of the game in progress (first names, roles and moves) so that we can fix the problem. That copy is deleted once the problem is fixed.

Like any server on the internet, it sees your phone’s IP address while connected. We do not use it to identify or follow you.

Problem reports

The app can prepare a report when something goes wrong. It stays on your phone. It is only sent if you choose to share it, through your phone’s share menu, with whoever you pick.

Permissions

The app asks for internet access, for the game, and for the vibration motor, to wake you when your turn comes. It does not use the camera, the microphone, your location or your contacts.

Children

Loup-Garou is often played by families. We ask for no age and no personal detail other than a first name, which can be a nickname.
